Job Description: Firefighting Pilot
Position Overview:
The Firefighting Pilot plays a crucial role in providing aerial support and firefighting services to combat wildfires and other emergency situations. This position requires exceptional piloting skills, advanced knowledge of aviation and aerospace principles, and the ability to operate specialized firefighting aircraft. The Firefighting Pilot is responsible for executing firefighting missions with precision and adhering to safety protocols at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conducting aerial firefighting operations using specialized firefighting aircraft.
2. Executing firefighting missions based on assigned plans, objectives, and targets.
3. Operating aircraft in a safe and efficient manner to combat wildfires and minimize damage.
4. Collaborating with ground crews and incident management teams to assess fire conditions and strategize firefighting approaches.
5. Dropping fire retardants, water, or other firefighting agents accurately and effectively to suppress flames and protect property and lives.
6. Monitoring weather conditions and adjusting firefighting strategies accordingly to ensure pilot and crew safety.
7. Conducting pre-flight inspections and routine maintenance checks on firefighting aircraft to ensure airworthiness.
8. Maintaining accurate flight records, mission reports, and other required documentation.
9. Adhering to all local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to aerial firefighting operations.
10. Participating in training programs and staying updated on industry advancements, firefighting techniques, and safety procedures.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Valid Commercial Pilot License (CPL) with appropriate ratings and endorsements.
2. Minimum of [X] flight hours, including significant experience in aerial firefighting or related roles.
3. Proficient in flying specialized firefighting aircraft, such as water bombers, air tankers, or helicopters equipped with firefighting equipment.

8. Proficient in reading and interpreting maps, charts, and other navigational aids.
9. Excellent communication and teamwork skills to effectively coordinate with ground crews and incident management teams.
10. Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to make quick decisions under pressure.
11. Physical fitness and the ability to meet medical requirements for aviation personnel.
12. Willingness to work irregular hours, including weekends and holidays, and travel as required.
